Editorial policy
Honest Arts Spotlight aims to make arts writing attentive, fair and clear. We separate description from interpretation, explain the basis for factual statements, and correct material errors when they are brought to our attention.
Accuracy and interpretation
We take care with names, titles, dates, materials and other factual details, and check claims against suitable information before publication. Interpretive writing is presented as interpretation, not as the only possible meaning. When a detail is uncertain or a source does not settle a question, we say so rather than make it sound certain.
Independence
Editorial choices are made for their relevance to readers and the subject, not because a maker, venue or partner asks for favourable coverage. A collaboration does not guarantee an article, a particular view or a positive assessment.
Corrections
If you spot a factual error, contact us through the Contact page and identify the relevant article and passage. We review correction requests and, when a material error is confirmed, amend the text and make the correction clear to readers.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid or otherwise agreed partner material is clearly labelled so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. We may use AI-generated illustrations; when we do, they are identified as AI-generated and are not presented as documentary images of a real artwork or event.
